EPCOT

Where the wonders of the world and the excitement of the future come together

🌍 World Showcase · 11 Nations 🚀 Est. October 1, 1982 🎆 4 Unique Neighborhoods

Innovation, Culture, and Wonder Under One Iconic Globe

There is no other theme park quite like Epcot. When it opened on October 1, 1982 — exactly eleven years after Magic Kingdom — Walt Disney’s vision of a future city had evolved into something altogether more ambitious: a permanent world’s fair, a celebration of human ingenuity, and a passport-free journey across the globe. All under the watchful gaze of Spaceship Earth, the park’s shimmering geodesic sphere and the most recognizable structure in all of Disney World.

Over the decades, Epcot has reinvented itself more than any other Disney park. Its most recent transformation brought four distinct neighborhoods — World Discovery, World Nature, World Celebration, and World Showcase — each with its own identity, atmosphere, and roster of experiences. The result is a park that rewards curiosity, delights food lovers, and speaks to both the wide-eyed child and the well-traveled adult.

Epcot is the rare theme park where you can ride a rocket, eat your way through eleven countries, and still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface.

Four Neighborhoods, One Extraordinary World

Epcot’s 2021 redesign replaced the old “Future World” and standalone World Showcase with four beautifully defined neighborhoods. Each has its own personality and purpose.

🚀

World Discovery

Science, technology, and space exploration. Home to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Mission: SPACE.

🌍

Eleven countries, authentic cuisine, and cultural pavilions arranged along the stunning World Showcase Lagoon.

🌊

✦ MUST-RIDE ATTRACTIONS ✦

The Rides That Define Epcot

Epcot blends gentle wonder with genuine excitement. Here are the standout attractions you won’t want to miss.

World Discovery

 World Discovery

🚀

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Disney’s first “reverse launch” coaster sends you rocketing backward through the cosmos to a killer ’70s and ’80s soundtrack. One of the most thrilling — and fun — rides in all of Walt Disney World.

 World Nature

🪂

Soarin' Around the World

Suspended in a giant hang glider, you’ll sail over the Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower, the African savanna, and more. A breathtaking, multi-sensory journey for guests of every age.

 World Discovery

🛸

Mission: SPACE

Strap in for an intense centrifugal simulation of a Mars mission — or opt for the gentler “Green Mission” orbit around Earth. Either way, it’s one of the most immersive experiences in the park.

World Celebration

🌐

Spaceship Earth

Not just an icon — a ride. This slow, serene journey through the history of human communication, from cave paintings to the digital age, is Epcot at its most thoughtful and timeless.

✦ WORLD SHOWCASE ✦

Eleven Countries, One Unforgettable Afternoon

The crown jewel of Epcot is undeniably World Showcase — a 1.2-mile promenade that wraps around a shimmering lagoon and brings eleven nations to life in remarkable detail. Each pavilion was developed in partnership with its respective country, ensuring an authenticity rare in any theme park setting.

Walking the World Showcase is itself the attraction. You’ll pass through Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, the American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Along the way: extraordinary food, live cultural performances, hidden-gem rides like Frozen Ever After (Norway) and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (France), and the kind of ambient atmosphere that makes time slow down.

In the evenings, the lagoon becomes the stage for EPCOT Forever or the seasonal Luminous The Symphony of Us — dazzling nighttime spectaculars that use fireworks, kites, and choreographed light projections to paint the sky in color and music.

🎊

The Famous Epcot Festivals

Epcot is the only Disney park that runs major multi-week festivals throughout the year, each transforming the park with new food booths, entertainment, art, and seasonal experiences.

🌸 Festival of the Arts · Jan–Feb

🌿 Flower & Garden · Mar–May

🍺 Food & Wine · Jul–Nov

🎄 Festival of the Holidays · Nov–Dec

✦ FOOD & DRINK ✦

The Best Food in All of Disney World

Ask any seasoned Disney World visitor which park has the best food and the answer is almost always the same: Epcot. World Showcase alone offers an extraordinary range of authentic international cuisine, from freshly made crêpes in France to hand-rolled sushi in Japan to slow-roasted meats in Germany.

🥐

Les Halles Boulangerie

France Pavilion. Buttery croissants, croque monsieurs, and proper café au lait.

🍣

Tokyo Dining

Japan Pavilion. Authentic sushi, sashimi, and teriyaki with a lagoon view.

🍺

Biergarten Restaurant

Germany Pavilion. Buffet-style Bavarian fare with a live oompah band.

🍷

Monsieur Paul

France Pavilion. Epcot’s most elegant fine dining — classic French cuisine at its finest.

🌮

La Cantina de San Angel

Mexico Pavilion. Tacos and margaritas on the waterfront — arguably the best view in the park.

🫕

Spice Road Table

Morocco Pavilion. Small plates of Mediterranean and North African flavors.

And during the International Food & Wine Festival — which runs from late summer through fall — dozens of additional food booths line the World Showcase promenade, offering small bites and drinks from countries not even represented by a pavilion. It’s a culinary event in its own right, drawing foodies from around the world.

✦ PLANNING YOUR VISIT ✦

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Epcot

1

Arrive at rope drop and head straight to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or grab a virtual queue entry — it’s the most in-demand ride and Lightning Lane books out fast.

2

Spend your mornings on rides in World Discovery and World Nature, then shift to World Showcase in the afternoon when pavilions and restaurants are fully humming.

3

Check the festival calendar before you go — visiting during a festival dramatically enhances the experience with extra food, entertainment, and atmosphere.

4

Book World Showcase dining reservations 60 days out. Monsieur Paul, Tokyo Dining, and Teppan Edo fill up quickly.

5

Stay for Luminous or EPCOT Forever. Watching the nighttime spectacular over the lagoon from the World Showcase promenade is a memory you’ll carry for years.

6

Don’t overlook the cultural performances — each pavilion hosts live musicians, dancers, and storytellers throughout the day, and they’re some of the most authentic entertainment in the park.

7

Wear comfortable walking shoes. The World Showcase promenade alone is 1.2 miles around the lagoon, and a full day here rivals Magic Kingdom for total steps.

The World Is Waiting for You

Epcot is a park that grows with you. The child who marveled at Spaceship Earth returns as a teenager hungry for Cosmic Rewind, and again as an adult who finally appreciates a slow afternoon in the France pavilion with a glass of Bordeaux. It is, in every sense, a park for a lifetime — and there is truly no place on earth quite like it.
